00 - 22 (saeiann) is a personal project I created after graduating, inspired by the time I spent back home. During this period, I found myself overwhelmed by emotions, thoughts, and feelings. This animation became a medium for me to externalize fragments of my inner self,
capturing memories and experiences from childhood to the age of 22. Through this process, I aimed to create space within myself to embrace new experiences and move forward with greater clarity.

00 - 22 (Saeiann) is a personal project I created after graduating, inspired by a period of introspection while staying at home. During this time, I explored my emotions, thoughts, and memories. I often felt disconnected from myself, frustrated by the idea that a part of me seemed to know more than I did. My forgetfulness left gaps in my memories, yet my dreams were vivid and full of elaborate stories that felt beyond
my own imagination.
my own imagination.
One recurring experience was dreaming of beautiful works inspired by the personalities of people I admired—creations that felt like they came from another version of myself. These dreams often left me feeling both amazed and mocked, as I couldn’t bring them to life.
This project became a way to transfer fragments of my identity and memories into something tangible. I reflected on impactful childhood moments and translated them into an animation that traces my journey from childhood to age 22. Through this process, I hoped to create space for personal growth and to reconnect with the deeper parts of myself. This might reflect a desire to break free from my own identity—or perhaps it’s just evidence of my deep self-absorption.
The animation was crafted using objects found around my home to construct the scenes, blending video footage, photographs, scanned materials, and shadows captured with an old scanner. I combined these elements with frame-by-frame animation, primarily using Photoshop and Premiere Pro. The resulting work is intentionally fragmented, reflecting the nonlinear nature of memory and self-reflection.
