Behind The Scenes Video (Thanawan Sae-ian's POV) : 2024
The film will be released soon.
This 1-minute short film was my first time directing, created in collaboration with P’Belle and P’Jak. The project began with a two-day stay
at Klowerº’s house and evolved into a personal journey of self-discovery. Through moving images, animation, sound design, and the vibrant energy of children from Klowerº’s neighborhood, I explored the symbolic and emotional meanings of eggs. This project allowed me to push
the boundaries of my creative process.
A Peek Into the Process
This was my first time directing a 1-minute short film, created in collaboration
with P’Belle (Keawalee Warutkomain) during a two-day stay at Klowerº’s house
under the care of P’Belle and P’Jak (Wardphan Diloksambandh). Together, we explored the meaning of eggs within the same environment but through our own perspectives.
My approach involved experimenting with rolling motions inspired by the natural form
of eggs, creating stop-motion animations using toys, and engaged with children in the Klowerº neighborhood by asking them,

"What does egg mean to you?"
With their permission, I recorded their answers
but as the process unfolded, the children invited me to play with them
and found myself joining their playful energy, which brought a spontaneous
and joyful element to the process.

Beyond the answers I collected, the most impactful part of this project was the lively sounds of laughter and encouragement from the children. This experience became
the foundation for my visual experiments and shaped the direction of the work.

In the early stages of visual experimentation, I struggled with deciding what to keep and what to leave out. To give myself some direction, I developed a rough concept inspired by observing the development of an egg under light, using light as the central medium for exploration. This concept became the foundation for further visual experimentation.
I also collaborated with Best (Punapat Manoonpanit), the sound designer for this project. Together, we discussed how the visuals would shape the work and the overall direction of the sound design. Initially, I planned for the sound to lead the visuals, creating animations to follow the audio. However, due to scheduling conflicts, I ended up crafting the visuals first without any sound. This shift turned out to be a valuable learning experience. Watching Best creatively sync sound to the movements I had already crafted—using electric guitar and modular synthesizer software—was a transformative moment. His work added a dynamic energy to the project, breathing life into the piece and making it feel complete.

We created the first draft, combining visuals and sound, and shared it with P'Belle
and P'Jak for feedback. They provided valuable input on the pacing of the visuals and suggested adjustments to refine specific elements, helping to elevate the overall piece.
P'Belle’s animation, developed through her research, was later integrated into the project. This addition enhanced the clarity of communication and brought a sense of completeness to the work.

It felt like our creative journey had come full circle,
tying all the elements together seamlessly.
